SMI Holdings Group Limited is a listed company in Hong Kong (stock code: 198) which is principally engaged in theater operation and new complementary business in China, including advertising and promotion business, “Membership Scheme” and “Xingmeihui”.

Under its strong management team and powerful business network, from 3 SMI movie theaters in 2009, it has increased significantly to 200 by the end of 2015. The number of screens owned is 1,400 and it has 20 million members. China Film Stellar Theater Chain continues to rank the top two box offices in China’s movie theaters. Currently, the movie industry is experiencing a high growth in China. As at December 2015, the box office in China has exceeded RMB40 billion. In future, the Group aims at owning not less than 300 movie theaters through self-construction and acquisition with yearly cinema admission exceeding 100 million, serving over 60 million households. At the same time, the Group will continue to maintain its leading position in the first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, while actively expanding its layout in the second and third tier cities that have tremendous development potential. These include the construction of movie theaters in Nanjing, Guizhou, Yanjiao in Hebei, Hefei in Anhui, Chongqing, Xiamen and Harbin, and further expand its business presences in Chengdu, Hohehot and other 105 cities to consolidate its leading position as a theater operator in China.

In 2014, SMI was the only cultural media group that obtained the virtual operator license in China. The Group has fully leveraged on its movie theater environment resources and explored the consumption potential of its members, expanded its income source, and launched the comprehensive life service platform, “smi170.com (星美生活)”. In catering for the needs of life of its members as its direction, the Group strives to establish movie theater as the center, integrates the established O2O operation model and complements with the logistic distribution mechanism of Stella readers “Xiaojumao (小橘帽)” to build a Two-Kilometers Commercial Ecosystems surrounding the movie theater and establish quality household users nearby. Its service coverage include movies and TV programs and entertainment products, communication products, life service products, organic food, household goods, imported wine, tourism products and [Yu’e Qianbao (餘額錢包)] etc.

In the advertising and promotion business, SMI provides more than 20 types of advertising and marketing options, including pre-screening advertisement, positioned advertisement (posters, lobby display boards, back advertising, LED screens), new media advertisement, commercial and marketing activities advertisements and so on.

The Group launched its New Membership Plan since late 2012, and by the end of 2015, its total membership has reached 20 million. For Xingmeihui which specializes in operating in-theater counter sales and online shopping platform, it aims at providing customers with a brand new shopping experience that combines online shopping and in-theater counter sales. Currently, Xingmeihui has its coverage in the first and second tier cities as well as economically developed regions and begins to establish footholds in the third and fourth tier cities, the plan of which is to increase the platform to 500 in next three years.
